Thank you for your support and for making stories like the one below possible! While planning for Faith Quest, Wintonbury’s one-week summer event for kids, Jenn suggested the program consider NAS for its 2015 mission emphasis. Her fellow team members enthusiastically agreed and before they knew it, Faith Quest was not only fundraising for NAS, they were hosting eight students from Camp Noah! One of the highlights of the week for Nichole P., a member of the Faith Quest team, was watching the students experience and share life together. “Even though most of us live within a few miles of each other, our cultures and traditions, the music we like, the way we dance, can be very different. I had so much fun watching the children worship, dance and pray together. I especially enjoyed the night we reached our fundraising goal and the Camp Noah kids celebrated by performing a dance-off before the whole camp!” For more on this story, check out the article in our annual newsletter. #HCMThankYou #ThankYou #ourvolunteersrock #bestdonorsever ![]() Dear Friends of HCM, The first time I went to Young Life it was a requirement to attend an event in order to secure my employment for the coming summer. The theme of the first night was Fear Factor, where people are asked to eat unusual foods and perform stunts. They asked the audience for volunteers to chew and swallow a live worm, to which I volunteered without hesitation. I completed the challenge while a group of young adults cheered me on. Reflecting on this experience, I felt it was one of the most enjoyable events I had ever been to. To end off the night, I played basketball with a group of people who eventually became some of my closest friends. Young Life is no longer a requirement for me, but I continue to integrate it into my weekly schedule. It is something I truly look forward to as a consistency in my ever-changing life. I wanted to take the time to formally thank all of the donors and volunteers for their contributions and making my experience so amazing. Young Life wouldn't be able to happen without all of you. Thank you for everything. Sincerely, Alexander Thomas #HCMThankYou #ThankYou #ourvolunteersrock #bestdonorsever ![]() "At Noah After School, I am thankful for having people that care about ME; learning more about Jesus and God; having someone to help me with my homework; and learning how to be kind." -Jaziona, Noah After School student Thank you for creating an environment where students can feel the way Jaziona does each day at Noah After School. YOU are the reason that we are able to reach kids in our community and provide them with a safe environment to learn about God! We appreciate the time, money, and prayers you've given to see this ministry grow. #HCMThankYou #ThankYou #ourvolunteersrock #bestdonorsever ![]() Thank you for making Camp Noah possible! So many people are involved in putting on Camp Noah including daily volunteers, Fun Friday hosts, donors, prayer partners and special guests. We couldn’t do it without you! Andrew (a student at Noah After School and Camp Noah) said, "Thank you Camp Noah for all your support. I like that we did challenges and snacks. Plus doing memory verses and learning about God. We had our own individual groups and I made a lot of friends. I had a lot of fun with the interns." We appreciate all that you do to make Camp Noah happen! Be sure to tune in for the next 9 days to see the rest of our 10 Days of Thanking YOU. Follow: #HCMThankYou We have made an exciting new connection! Kieki Du Plessis, of Wintonbury Church, has gone out of her way to connect us with her homeschool co-op and we have been extremely blessed because of it! The Co-Op Kids for Christ have about 22 families and 85 kids participating. The co-op is an informal group of moms who get together to teach their children and provide them with experiences where a large group setting is advantageous. The group asked to start a pen pal initiative with the kids in both of our Noah After School sites and it has been a ton of fun. We matched the co-op children with NAS children and they have been writing back and forth to each other for over a month now. The NAS kids loved receiving letters from their pen pals! The co-op also asked for prayer requests from us so they could be praying for our kids and Children’s Ministry as a whole every Friday when they meet. Just a week or so ago, Cheryl, the Antioch Site Manager attended the groups last session of the school year and was surprised with a donation of over $1,3000 to sponsor Camp Noah kids to go to Lakeside Christian Camp! Everything about this relationship has been a blessing; from the pen pal letters to the prayers and the generous donation, kids in Hartford are being impacted! We are so blessed to have the Co-Op Kids for Christ in our lives and look forward to strengthening our relationship with continued pen pal letters and hopefully a time where all of the kids can meet. This was such a great story we had to share it with all of you.
![]() It seems like just yesterday we were writing an article in this newsletter announcing the opening of Hartford City Mission's second Noah After School (NAS) site. Now, over two and half years later, I say with great gratitude that the NAS Antioch site has truly flourished. Starting off with only two days a week of programming, then gradually moving to four, we have entered our second school year providing four days of programming at the Antioch site. This year we have 18 children attending the site, the most we've ever enrolled. At first I was
