Check Out Our First Week of Online Learning!

Last week, Hartford City Mission started our online learning curriculum. We were able to spend some facetime with our students and provide some fun, interactive assignments to help them engage with what we're learning about. We spent some time getting settled into the software with some fun games and activities. Look at the pictures below for some highlights.

What is Respect?

Before we had to stop in-person programming, we were learning about what it means to have respect. Our definition of respect is treating someone in a way that makes them feel important. During this time of being stuck at home, it's even more important that we respect the people around us. This week, we talked about how we can show respect. Our memory verse is 1 Peter 2:17, which says, "Show respect for all people. Love the brothers and sisters of God's family. Respect God. Honor the king." Students shared ways that they can show respect and honor to the poeple in their homes. Their ideas ranged from listening when their parents tell them to do something to helping change diapers. I'm excited to hear more about how they've been respecting each other.

We Need Each Other

We've also spent time just connecting with the kids and creating a place for them to connect with each other. During this time of uncertainty and social distancing, it has become very obvious how much we need each other. One of the activities that we did was to listen to the song, "I Need You to Survive". Students shared who the people are that are improtant to them and how they can show respect to them during this time. Who is someone that is important to you? How could you honor them during this time (even if you can't physically be near them)?
Join us in continuing to pray for and support our families during this week. Hartford has spring break this week, so online learning is paused with the schools, some services will look different this week. We are planning to celebrate Spring break with some fun virtual games during the week.
